HOW TO PACK YOUR GOODS
ALL GOODS MUST BE PACKED OR PROTECTED PRIOR TO SHIPPING.
ANY GOODS NOT PACKED OR PROTECTED WILL NOT BE INSURED.
Packing Your Goods Yourself
We always take care when handling goods but please bear in mind goods will need to withstand over 1000 miles of driving and two sometimes very rough sea crossings therefore you will need strong boxes and other suitable packing materials.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR GOODS ARE PACKED WELL AS WE CANNOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGES UNLESS YOUR GOODS ARE PACKED BY US.
Advice and Tips
Don't over fill boxes because they will be difficult to move and stack properly.
Heavy items should go in smaller boxes.
Label boxes and items CLEARLY with your name.
Provide plenty of padding for boxes with fragile items to ensure goods are protected. You can use bubble wrap or newspaper to stuff the sides of the box
and cushions or pillows inside the box.
Note which boxes are able to bear loads so we can place them at the bottom when loading - and vice versa for any delicate items.
Wrap crockery individually in bubble wrap and stack plates on their sides.
(N.B. GOODS IN TRANSIT INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER GLASS OR CERAMICS)
A full list of restricted items can be found here.
Freezers, washing machines and refrigerators will need draining a couple of days before moving them and it is acceptable to transport large fridges on their side.
After delivery, fridges will need to stand for 24 hours prior to use.
Please note: Our Goods In Transit insurance only covers for damages if goods are packed and/or protected by us as it can not be proven what condition the goods are in before they are packed. We can provide a packing service for an extra cost but if you wish to save money and get complete peace of mind you should give yourself enough time before your goods are collected and pack or protect your goods yourself.
